Awareness-raising Events

Every year, September is designated as "Disability Employment Support Month." During this period, JEED, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, prefectural governments and Prefectural Associations for Employment Support, conducts educational activities with a view to fostering employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and supporting their vocational independence among not only employers, but also the general public.

1 National Awards Ceremony and Exhibition of the Award-winning Posters

JEED holds a National Awards Ceremony that honors companies with distinguished performance in the disability employment and the superior work achievements of disabled workers. JEED also holds an exhibition of the award-winning original pictures for Disability Employment Support Month posters.

2 Work Fairs for Persons with Disabilities

JEED organizes comprehensive exhibitions (Work Fairs for Persons with Disabilities) for the promotion of disability employment.
The following events are scheduled to be held in 2009 in conjunction with the 31st National Abilympics (vocational skills contests for persons with disabilities) in Ibaraki Prefecture.

  • Exhibition and demonstration introducing the vocational situation of persons with disabilities
  • Exhibition of assistive technology for disability employment

3 Examples of Good Practices for Employment Promotion and Expansion of Vocational Areas

JEED invites employers to submit positive examples of innovative approaches to employment promotion as well as expansion of vocational areas and employment security for persons with disabilities. These examples are compiled into a collection of case studies to be used for awareness raising.
