● The National Association for Employment of Physically and Mentally Disabled Persons was founded.

● Inauguration of the Association for Employment of Physically Disabled Persons (AEPD)
National Association for Employment of Physically and Mentally Disabled Persons was dissolved.
September 1, 1978
● Inauguration of the Association of Employment Development for Senior Citizens.

● The National Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities was opened.
April 1, 1985
● Responsibility for levies, etc., was transferred from the Employment Promotion Corporation (the present Employment and Human Resources Development Organization of Japan) to the AEPD.
May 1, 1986
● The Association of Employment Development for Senior Citizens was designated as the Central Older Persons Employment Security Center and started operations.
May 21, 1987
● The National Kibi-Kogen Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities was opened.
April 1, 1988
● The AEPD's name was changed to the Japan Association for Employment of Persons with Disabilities (JAED).
Local Vocational Centers for Persons with Disabilities and the National Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Spinal Injuries were transferred from the Employment Promotion Corporation to JAED. The operation of the National Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities and the National Kibi-Kogen Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities was transferred from the government to JAED.
November 18, 1991
● The National Institute of Vocational Rehabilitation (NIVR) was opened.
October 1, 2003
● Japan Organization for Employment of the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities (JEED) was established.
March 31,2009
● The National Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Spinal Injuries was closed.
