Journal “Elder”

Books and Pamphlets

JEED publishes books and pamphlets addressing the elderly employment issues and introduction of companies that are good models regarding the employment of the elderly.

2 Dissemination of Information on Examples of Adaptation

JEED collects good adaptation examples for the employment of the elderly (job re-design, personnel management, wages, healthcare, skill development, etc.) and compiles them into a database (Workplace Adaptation Support System) for dissemination via the Internet.

Awareness-raising Events

Every year, October is designated as "Employment Support for the Elderly Month" During this period, JEED, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and regional business trust corporations, conducts educational activities with a view to fostering employment opportunities for the elderly among not only employers but also the general public.

1 Elderly Employment Development Contest

In order to provide assistance in solving problems related to the employment of the elderly, JEED collects good adaptation examples that have been undertaken by companies, and holds the contest. At this contest, commendations are given for excellent examples of inventive approaches by companies to create a working environment where elderly persons can fully exercise their abilities and actively work. This is being done through personnel and wage management systems, education/training/transferring technical skills, improvement of work facilities, creation of works/duties, and other initiatives. Also presentations are made by commended companies that are recognized as having made a particularly progressive and diffusive approach.

In addition, these inventive approaches by commended companies are compiled as a database for public access on the JEED webpage as well as introduced in pamphlets, DVDs, and the educational journal, "ELDER."

2 Symposium for the Realization of "Companies Where People Can Work until 70"

JEED holds symposiums for the public and personnel administration staff in companies in order to raise awareness among the general public of the importance of companies where people can work up to the age of 70. These symposiums aim at the promotion of good corporate initiatives. In the lecturers, experts in this field explain how to improve corporate management and promote employment in a society of shrinking and super-aging population with the end result of realizing the employment up to 70. There are also panel discussions by employers who are already employing persons aged up to 70.
